Afterword
This is the second volume of the “Kagerou, Setting Sail!” novelization of “KanColle.” This time, the destroyer Shiranui, which made a brief appearance at the beginning of the previous volume, makes an appearance.
The previous volume was based on an expedition mission in the game, but this time the story is based on the event of “Southern Waters Assault Reconnaissance!” that was held in August 2013. However, it is difficult to cover all the details of that event, so I have made my own arrangements. For example, how the “E” stages are being portrayed. In the event, you have to clear multiple sea areas in sequence, but in this work, I combined them into one.
The fleet consisting of Takao, Maya, Myoukou, Isuzu, and Shiranui, is based on the historical battle formation. In fact, Kuroshio should be in Shiranui's place, but that is just for the sake of the story. There may be many other unnatural parts, but please forgive me.
Now, the destroyer Shiranui. According to the editor-in-chief of the modeling magazine, Shiranui is “The perfect ship for modeling because of her clear pictures.” It is possible to see every detail, so it is no wonder that she is the most popular of the Kagerou-class.
Even as an anthropomorphic character, the name of the ship shines above all else. Kagerou is the "yang" and Shiranui is the "yin," which is a perfect contrast. In the novel, Kagerou is more intense in her emotions, while Shiranui is more taciturn. What do you think of this image?
In the next volume, the 14th Destroyer Division will leave Yokosuka and go to a hotter place. It will be a different image from that of Yokosuka Naval Base, which is well-equipped with military strength and equipment. Please look forward to it.
Last but not least, I would like to thank Mr. Tsunehiro Goto, the chief editor of Navy Yard, for his many suggestions. I would like to express my gratitude to him.

Afterword Please enjoy different faces of Kagerou-chan!! I drew the two people who did not appear in the illustrations this time. Who should I draw next, I wonder? -NOCO |
Finally completed the second volume. It was catching, thank you for translating it.
ReplyDeleteJust of curiosity: I have played KanColle just a little and have never go at high number and E maps. Is the remodeled (Kai 1? Kai 2?) destroyer realy able to sink a map boss in one-vs-one fight?
In this volume, it's just a normal first remodel, which is Kai. Usually, the remodel version that gives more powerful ability is the second remodel which is Kai Ni or Kai 2 and it also comes with brand new appearance for the shipgirls, like in the anime with Yuudachi.
DeleteAs for event maps, it depends on what kind of bosses is in the stage, but destroyers actually do well in these kind of situation because of their crazy night battle damage with torpedoes, and as long as it's not an Installation-type (ground target) unless the destroyer can equip Landing Tanks.
I have to apologize since I still haven't got the chance to translate the other volumes because somehow I always have other things to do IRL.
I will be waiting for your translation as long as it takes. Since english isn't my native language, reading english literature with a rich vocaburary is difficult for me, so I am a little bit glad that it will be a break before the 3rd volume.
